What do I get when I join The Method? We will pair you with a coach that will develop a method specific to you! You’ll gain access to all the information, resources, blogs, recipes (and more!) you need to support you on your journey, through our website and app. You’ll also become part of our supportive online member community - a portal for you to ask any questions you might have, to learn from the experiences of others, or simply to share health and fitness related information you think other members might find useful.
-
What kinds of methods might you recommend for your clients?Once your coach has a good understanding of your background, lifestyle, and health and nutrition related goals, they’ll tailor a plan just for you. This might include calorie counting, macro tracking, or a more flexible approach to eating and looking after your body and mind. The approach for you might also change as your Method journey progresses. For example, you might start by focusing on calorie input and output, but loosen the reins as you get a better understanding of serving sizes, nutritional components in foods, etc. The beauty of our method lies in its flexibility to suit each and every individual and their lifestyle.
-
Do you tell me what to eat and when? When it comes to your daily food intake, our focus (and ethos) is always around educated flexibility. So, no, we don’t necessarily prescribe your daily meals, rather teach you how to work it out for yourself and listen to what your body needs. That being said, if you do start off needing more specific guidance, your coach can provide some suggestions on what to eat! Our app and website has a useful knowledge base full of great recipes and ideas.
-
What are macros and why should I track them?“Macros” is short for macronutrients, which includes protein, carbohydrates (carbs) and fats. Each gram of protein and carbs equates to four calories, while a gram of fat is nine calories. Based on our calculations of your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) and understanding of your goals, we will determine a target of macros for you to hit each day. Counting macros is a more complex version of counting calories, which might be better suited to some individuals and their goals. Having said this, we know tracking food, counting calories and macros is not for everyone! If you don’t think this approach is for you, there are tons of other ways to work towards your goals.
-
How do you know what macro split will work best for me?The most important part of our sign-up process is the questionnaire. The questions are specifically designed to give your coach the information they need to formulate your completely individualised plan. The reason our programs are so successful is because of the weekly check-ins with your coach. Each week, your coach will track your progress and over time, they’ll adjust your macros to keep you on the right track. As your body changes, so too should the way you fuel it. (That’s another reason why our minimum commitment term is 13 weeks.) If your progress plateaus or stalls, we’ve got loads of tools and ways to kickstart it back into gear!
-
How do I track my macros? When you join The Method, we provide you with our Guide that explains everything in detail. We use apps and programs to make the whole process as simple as possible for you. It’s much easier than you might think, we promise!
-
Why don't we just count calories? While counting calories will help you achieve your goal of weight loss or weight gain, counting macros will determine what is lost or gained. Macros allow us to have greater control over body composition, so we can ensure you’re losing fat and preserving or gaining muscle.
-
What foods are off limits?Nothing is off limits. You’ve heard the expression “everything in moderation”? Well, we believe these are words to live by. Eating well majority of the time allows you the freedom to enjoy less nutritious foods once in a while, guilt free! Regardless of the nutrition method we see as being the best fit for you, balance is a big focus. Balance is sustainable, but entirely restricting certain foods isn’t.
-
Are there cheat days?Let’s just say, we’re strong believers that the right approach to nutrition doesn’t need to be “cheated on”; rather, we teach you how to make allowances for (or factor in) the days or events that might stray from your usual balanced way of eating. If you’re going out to dinner, go a holiday, birthday or wedding coming up, we won’t let you be the guy in the corner who brings his own salad and just sips on water. Life is for living; food is for eating; and celebrations should be enjoyed to the fullest. Occasional indulgences should help you stay on track – not send you off it!
-
Who will my coach be?Our memberships team will allocate you the coach who we believe will be the best fit for you and your goals. You can take a look at all of our coaches and their credentials on the “Coaches” page of our website. Please tell us if you have a preference when you complete the sign-up form, or if one of our coaches referred you to the program.

How long does it take? The time it will take completely depends on the individual and their unique situation. However, there is no quick fix or shortcut to achieving your goals. Our approach to change is to make sure it is sustainable – which might mean it takes longer, but also means it lasts longer. Whether you want to lose 5kg of fat or gain 10kg of muscle, we’ll help you do it in a way that’s sustainable and enjoyable. Yeah, you could go on a restrictive eight-week diet, but what’s the point when the very next day you’re back to bingeing on the food you’ve deprived yourself of? The one thing we’re most proud of is being able to provide all of our clients with an enjoyable process that becomes a life-changing experience and turns into second nature.
-
I've tried everything - what's different or special about your method? We’re not exaggerating when we say we’ve tried just about everything, too! It’s these tried and tested experiences, combined with our expert knowledge, that gives us such a unique point of difference. We believe the success of our method comes down to its flexibility. In our experience, the strict diets that dictate what we can and can’t eat don’t work. They might produce short-term results but, in the long term, we’ve found them to be unsustainable and do more harm than good. Our approach focuses on the long term – of course, we want you to reach your short- and medium-term goals (shredding for the wedding?), but what if you could keep the weight off after your honeymoon?
-
I've never been much of a cook, does that matter?"Absolutely not! Eating well is easy, and we’ll show you how to prepare simple meals that hit your nutritional requirements. We have a bunch of time-saving tips, but if you’re no Jamie Oliver and would rather steer clear of the stove, we’ve got shortcuts for you, too!
-
Do I need to exercise to see results? Not necessarily. If your activity levels are low, we’ll take that into consideration when we tailor your nutrition plan. However, our aim is to help you become the best, happiest and healthiest version of yourself, and moving your body is an important part of that. Your coach will look at your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) to form the basis of your calories or macros, and may recommend increasing your TDEE by aiming for a brisk 20-minute walk each day. We won’t point you in the direction of the most expensive gym membership or ask you to start lifting weights if it makes you feel uncomfortable, but part of our holistic approach to nutrition includes some form of movement to help you live optimally.
-
Why don't you do meal plans?Having a flexible plan where you work out your own food allows you to go with the flow of the day rather than having restrictions around what you can eat, and when. It also teaches you how to write your own plan and take control of your own nutrition. We help you learn about what works for your body, building healthy habits for long term success. After all, we’re not going to be there to hold your hand your entire life (although we could be!).
